IMPACT Basketball Academy is excited to bring you the recap of our Inaugural All-Star Event on January 10-11!
“All Star” players from the IMPACT Family were selected to participate in 3 different contests and 2 all star games in this 2-day event!
DAY 1
We “tip-off” the event with the IMPACT Skills Challenge in which players from both U12 & U14 showed off their ball-handling, passing, finishing and shooting skills.
Heavy favorite Chetan Jolly came home with the first trophy. Congratulations Chet!
The event continued with a Shoot Stars Challenge that provided a chance for the U12 players to shoot the lights out!
It was 9-year-old Kristo Klavins who stole the show and beat all the other U12 players to become the best shooter of the event!
The first day concluded with the U12 All Star Game.
It was the IMPACT White Squad that started off the game on fire, hitting the first 4 baskets of the game! The frontline tag team of Santiago BANDA-LOZANO and Robert Skrzynski were too tough for the Black squad to defend. The White Squad was up big during the first half as Destin Nikkel continued to dominate the board.
The Black Squad was able to cut the deficit when James Hathaway, Ryan Brennan and Felix Keith started to heat up! Strong inside plays by Marcus Fong also helped the Black Squad to get back in the game. But the leadership and playmaking ability of Jacob Gabbay were the key difference and the White Squad came away with the victory and a “IMPACT Rising Star” gold medal for everyone in the team!
DAY 2
IMPACT Basketball All Star Event resumed on the following day with an exciting 3-point Contest by the eight U14 sharp shooters.
It was Jengus Ercil who put up a shooting clinic in the first round! Hitting 16 of his 25 shots and entered the final round as the top seed. But Joshua Kim was the most consistent and confident shooter of the evening. He calmly drained 15 shots within the 2 minutes of the final round and brought home the 3-point Contest Trophy.

U14 All Star Game
The game was competitive right from the get-go, with the White Squad building a lead after Felix Chau and Turner Jackson scored consecutive buckets inside the paint. Josh Kim and Chetan Jolly kept pushing the ball, running the offense while scoring from outside, the White Squad was able to lead the Black Squad at half time.
It was the Black Squad that showed more resilience in the second half. Jengus Ercil started heating up to bring the team back in the game. Maurice “Mo” Leung and Alex Warburg were battling the frontline of the White Squad which was a big part of the comeback. But it was the game’s Most Valuable Player — Bayard Winegar who provided the most toughness down the stretch with his huge rebounds and timely baskets.
Final Score – Black Squad 53:47 White Squad
MVP – Bayard Winegar
